With my first job being started about 2 weeks ago (I’m actually graduating at the end of this month, but doing nothing isn’t my favorite choice of spending time) and my new system up and running, I thought it was a nice moment to start a blog to keep track of my problems and findings during my humble life as a .NET developer. This to provide myself and others useful information and create an organized place to gather my solutions to common and less common problems.
Setting up my own blog on my local machine immediately brought me to the first problem worth blogging about:
I picked out BlogEngine.NET for my first tryout on the road to find the engine that fits met best. During the installation I had to give the ASP.NET user write access to the App_Data folder. Hopping into my Windows Explorer to give the permission, I found that my security tab was missing.
To unhide the Security tab, use the following steps:
- Launch Windows Explorer or My Computer.
- Click on the Tools at the menu bar, then click on Folder Options.
- Click on View tab.
- In the Advanced Settings section at the bottom of the list, uncheck (clear the tick) on the “Use simple file sharing (Recommended)” check box.
- Click OK.
Another step closer to writing my first blog post, o wait … I’m already writing it.
